Short Animated Storytelling Video May Reduce Transphobia in US Parents

Updated

Abstract

Single exposure to a 2.5-minute animated story video significantly reduced transphobia among US parents.

  • The video intervention improved attitudes toward transgender children immediately after viewing.
  • A significant reduction in mean Transgender Stigma Scale scores was observed post intervention.
  • Participants in the video group showed small to moderate immediate changes in attitudes.
  • Improvements in attitudes were sustained at a 30-day follow-up for participants who viewed the video.
  • Future research may explore the effects of multiple exposures to similar interventions on long-term attitude changes.
