How a SIFamide Receptor Affects Feeding and Foraging in Fall Armyworm Larvae

Updated

Abstract

CRISPR-mediated knockout of the SIFamide receptor in fall armyworm larvae resulted in significantly diminished feeding capacity.

  • Impaired foraging efficiency and reduced locomotor activity were observed in SIFamide receptor knockout larvae.
  • Transcriptomic analysis showed downregulation of five genes associated with carbohydrate metabolism.
  • The findings suggest a role for the SIFamide receptor in regulating foraging and feeding behaviors.
  • These observations could provide new molecular insights into the behavioral ecology of lepidopterans.
