Six-Month Real-World Use, Safety, and Effectiveness of Low-to-Moderate Doses of Tirzepatide in Adults with Obesity

Abstract

In a cohort of 260 patients, 94.2% achieved at least 5% weight loss after 6 months of tirzepatide treatment.

  • 208 patients (80%) completed the 6-month therapy.
  • Significant reductions in body weight and body mass index (BMI) were observed (p < 0.001).
  • Weight loss was not dependent on baseline BMI or obesity class.
  • Women experienced a greater percentage weight loss than men (p = 0.042).
  • 20% of patients discontinued treatment, mainly due to reaching goals, cost, non-response, or adverse events.
  • Gastrointestinal adverse events were the most common but rarely caused treatment discontinuation.
