Possible links between sleep problems and endometriosis from genetic analysis
Updated
Abstract
Essence
Genetic evidence suggested insomnia may increase the risk of endometriosis, while other sleep traits did not show causal associations.
Evidence
This bidirectional two-sample study found insomnia associated with endometriosis by inverse variance weighting (OR 2.021, 95% CI 1.280-3.192, P = .003) and tested multivariable adjustment for BMI, alcohol intake, smoking, and depression.
Caveat
Mendelian randomization depends on genetic-instrument assumptions and did not identify causal associations for chronotype, sleep duration, daytime napping, or daytime sleepiness.
