Sleep and Wake Pattern Disruptions Linked to Thinking Skills in Older Adults With and Without Mild Memory Problems Using the myRhythmWatch Device

Abstract

All 40 participants provided sufficient accelerometer data for measuring 24-hour sleep/wake rhythms.

  • Participants included 19 with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 21 without cognitive disorder (NCD).
  • The mean recording length was shorter in the MCI group (6.6 days) compared to the NCD group (7.2 days).
  • Later activity onset times were associated with worse delayed memory performance.
  • More fragmented sleep/wake rhythms were associated with worse processing speed.
