Updated

Abstract

Among 435 participants, the smoking cessation success rate was 63.3% for heated tobacco product-only users compared to 52.8% for cigarette-only smokers.

  • Heated tobacco product-only users had a significantly higher smoking cessation success rate than cigarette-only smokers.
  • Dual smokers showed a nonsignificantly lower cessation success rate compared to cigarette-only smokers.
  • Participants were predominantly male, with an average age of 46.6 years and a majority having over 20 years of smoking history.
  • The group-based intervention included nicotine replacement therapy and digital peer support through an app for interaction among participants.
  • Overall, the type of tobacco product used may influence the effectiveness of smoking cessation programs.
