Snoring and Daytime Sleepiness in Parkinson's Disease

Abstract

Of the 86 studied Parkinson's disease patients, 31.5% experienced excessive daytime sleepiness.

  • Insomnia was reported by 53.3% of patients.
  • Restless legs syndrome was found in 49.9% of patients.
  • Vivid dreams were experienced by 55.4% of participants.
  • 71.8% of patients reported snoring.
  • A significant association exists between snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness (OR=3.64, P=0.03).
  • A marginal association was observed between motor dysfunction and excessive daytime sleepiness (OR=1.06, P=0.05).
