Abstract
A total of 168 New Zealand premier rugby coaches reported a 46% response rate regarding their nutrition advice practices.
- 83.8% of coaches provided nutrition advice to their players.
- Coaches answered 55.6% of knowledge questions correctly.
- Coaches giving advice had a higher average knowledge score (56.8%) compared to those not giving advice (48.4%).
- Significant relationships were found between coaches' total knowledge scores and their qualifications, self-rated knowledge, and nutrition training.
- Coaches may be inadequately prepared to provide effective nutrition advice and could benefit from additional training.
