Suyin Detoxification Granule reduces kidney cell damage and scarring caused by trimethylamine N-oxide to help prevent chronic kidney disease

Updated

Abstract

Suyin Detoxification Granule (SDG) significantly reduces circulating TMAO levels and inhibits renal tubular damage in chronic kidney disease (CKD).

  • Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is associated with ferroptosis and the secretion of profibrotic factors in kidney cells.
  • SDG can inhibit TMAO-induced ferroptosis and decrease the release of profibrotic factors.
  • In a mouse model, TMAO promotes CKD progression by inducing tubular ferroptosis and renal fibrosis.
  • SDG may lower circulating TMAO levels by altering gut microbiota composition, including specific bacterial families.
  • The intervention with SDG could help prevent renal damage linked to TMAO in CKD.
