Drug testing and analysis

Making and analyzing two LSD-related compounds (1D-LSD and 1T-LSD) and how to tell them apart

Abstract

Chemical analysis revealed that a product marketed as '1D-LSD' actually contained 1-(thiophene-2-carbonyl)-LSD (1T-LSD).

  • Products advertised as 1D-LSD have been circulating since late 2022.
  • Chemical analysis of 1D-LSD showed it contains a different compound than previously suggested.
  • 1D-LSD was synthesized as a mixture of four stereoisomers.
  • The mixture was separated into two groups of diastereomers using liquid chromatography.
  • 1D-LSD and 1T-LSD exhibited markedly different analytical properties.
