A Personalized Online Program to Improve Parenting Skills Linked to Teen Depression and Anxiety: Results After the Program

Updated

Abstract

Parents in the intervention condition completed a mean of 73.7% of their intended personalized PiP program.

  • A significant condition-by-time interaction was observed on parenting factors, with a medium effect size (Cohen d=0.57).
  • No significant differences were found between conditions on secondary outcome measures at postintervention.
  • Adolescent depressive and anxiety symptoms decreased significantly from baseline to postintervention in both conditions.
  • The PiP intervention showed short-term effects on parenting behaviors linked to adolescents' risk for depression and anxiety.
  • Long-term follow-up is required to determine if these short-term effects lead to reduced adolescent mental health issues.
