Reducing age-related activation of mobile DNA elements may ease heart aging

Updated

Abstract

Essence

LINE-1 activation appears to drive cardiac aging through cGAS-STING signaling in preclinical models.

Evidence

This preclinical mouse and H9C2 cell study linked LINE-1 derepression to premature cardiac aging and tested 3TC or H-151 in Mov10-knockout cells and naturally aged mice.

Caveat

The work is limited to cells and mice, with no human cardiac aging or clinical treatment outcomes.
