Carboplatin combined with ultrasound-induced blood-brain barrier opening resulted in a 4.2-fold increase in drug penetration in the brain.

  • Carboplatin plus ultrasound-induced blood-brain barrier opening improved survival rates in GBM-bearing mice.
  • Tumor growth was delayed in GBM mice treated with carboplatin and ultrasound-induced blood-brain barrier opening compared to carboplatin alone.
  • No significant neurological or systemic toxicity was observed in mice receiving the combined treatment.
