Abstract
Cisplatin-induced senescent cells enhance the detachment of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) cells in vitro and dissemination in vivo.
- Senescent cells secrete factors known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).
- Fructose is identified as a metabolic component of the SASP that promotes cell detachment.
- A high-fructose diet is associated with increased dissemination of HGSOC in animal models.
- Complex I is identified as a driver of SASP-mediated cell detachment and HGSOC dissemination.
- SASP may inhibit a specific metabolic pathway, leading to decreased plasma membrane cholesterol and increased cell detachment.
