3D Growth of Fat-Derived Stem Cells in Gel with Light Therapy Boost

Updated

Abstract

Photobiomodulation significantly enhanced the proliferation rates of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) in a 3D hydrogel environment.

  • ADSCs were cultured in hydrogels at a density of 2.5 x 10^6 cells in a 3D framework.
  • Irradiation was applied using 525 nm and 825 nm light at fluencies of 5 J/cm² and 10 J/cm².
  • No cytotoxic effects were observed from either the 3D culture or photobiomodulation treatments.
  • ADSCs displayed a rounded morphology and were found as individual cells or spheroid aggregates within the gel.
  • This approach may address challenges related to ADSC survival and proliferation in wound healing applications.
