Tirzepatide’s effectiveness and side effects linked to early weight loss in two clinical trials

Updated

Abstract

In a combined analysis of 2,384 participants, early responders to tirzepatide experienced greater weight reduction and improvements in cardiometabolic risk parameters.

  • Early responders (≥ 5% weight reduction) were more likely to be female, White, and have lower baseline HbA1c levels.
  • Clinically meaningful weight reduction and improvements in cardiometabolic risk parameters were observed from baseline to Week 72.
  • Participants in the early responder group showed significantly greater improvements in weight reduction and cardiometabolic risk parameters compared to non-responders.
  • The pattern and severity of gastrointestinal events were similar between early responders and non-responders.
