Effectiveness and safety of Tirzepatide in people with heart failure who have normal heart pumping

Updated

Abstract

Tirzepatide was associated with a 50% reduction in the composite outcome of cardiovascular mortality and worsening heart failure events in patients with obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).

  • The analysis included five studies with a total of 47,710 patients, mean age 64.7 years, and follow-up from 52 to 146 weeks.
  • Tirzepatide showed a significant reduction in heart failure exacerbation events compared to standard therapy (HR 0.75; p = 0.04).
  • No significant difference was observed in heart failure hospitalization or all-cause mortality between tirzepatide and semaglutide.
  • Adverse drug reactions did not show a statistically significant difference between tirzepatide and either standard therapy or semaglutide.
