Abstract

Tirzepatide administration at 10 nmol/kg once weekly for 8 weeks significantly decreased amyloid plaques in the cortex of Alzheimer’s disease model mice.

  • Tirzepatide reduced neuronal death caused by amyloid-β in APP/PS1 mice.
  • Levels of specific proteins, including GLP-1 receptor and GFAP, were significantly decreased in treated mice.
  • The treatment did not impact anxiety or cognitive function in the Alzheimer’s disease model.
  • Tirzepatide lowered blood glucose levels and increased the expression of several genes related to glucose metabolism in the hypothalamus.
  • The drug also enhanced the mRNA expression of key enzymes involved in energy metabolism in the cortex.
