Testing a traditional herbal cream for treating sun-damaged facial skin in a controlled clinical trial

Updated

Abstract

Both the polyherbal formulation and tretinoin significantly improved skin aging symptoms in 82 subjects (P < .001).

  • Improvements were observed in fine wrinkles, forehead lines, crow's feet, skin roughness, facial dullness, nasolabial folds, and hyperpigmentation.
  • No side effects were reported in the polyherbal formulation group, while the tretinoin group experienced mild to moderate skin reactions.
  • The polyherbal formulation may offer a safer alternative to tretinoin for treating photoaged facial skin.
  • Quality of life assessments indicated positive changes in both treatment groups.
