Changes in discrimination-related trauma symptoms after MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD

Updated

Abstract

A significant reduction of 38% in trauma symptoms related to discrimination was observed following MDMA-assisted therapy.

  • Five diverse participants who experienced multiple types of discrimination were assessed before and after therapy.
  • A paired-samples t-test indicated a statistically significant decrease in scores on the Trauma Symptoms of Discrimination Scale.
  • The effect size of the therapy was large, suggesting a notable impact on trauma symptoms.
  • All participants reported marked improvements in symptoms related to discrimination after the therapy.
  • The findings suggest that MDMA-assisted therapy may alleviate discrimination-related trauma in marginalized populations.
