UBT251, a new treatment activating three hormone receptors, tested in adults with overweight or obesity in a phase 2 trial

Updated

Abstract

In a trial involving 205 adults, UBT251 resulted in body weight reductions of 19.7% to 13.6% compared to a 2.0% reduction with placebo.

  • UBT251 led to significant improvements in waist circumference, body mass index, blood pressure, lipid profiles, and glycemic parameters.
  • Placebo-adjusted differences in weight change ranged from -17.7% to -11.5% at week 24, with all comparisons showing p < 0.001.
  • The most common side effects were mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal symptoms.
  • UBT251 demonstrated weight reduction alongside cardiometabolic improvements.
  • The findings support further evaluation of UBT251 in phase 3 trials.
