Abstract

A total of 309 advertisements were analyzed, with 163 (53%) identified as pro-vaccine and 145 (47%) as anti-vaccine.

  • The median number of ads per buyer was significantly higher for anti-vaccine advertisements.
  • First-time buyers of ads were less likely to complete disclosure information, increasing the risk of ad removal.
  • Anti-vaccine advertisements predominantly emphasized vaccine harms, accounting for 55% of their messages.
  • Pro-vaccine advertisements originated from a diverse group of 83 unique buyers with varied objectives.
  • Key themes among pro-vaccine ads included promoting vaccination (49%), vaccine-related philanthropy (15%), and vaccine-related policy (14%).
