VIP stimulated the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in DU-145/AR prostate cancer and normal prostate epithelial cells.
- VPAC1, VPAC2, and PAC1 receptor mRNAs were present in both prostate cancer cells and normal prostate epithelial cells.
- PACAP also increased IL-6 production in normal prostate epithelial cells.
- VIP enhanced IL-6 promoter transcriptional activity specifically in DU-145/AR prostate cancer cells.
