Patterns of weight regain after stopping GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Stopping GLP-1 receptor agonists was followed by predictable weight regain that may plateau below pretreatment weight.

Evidence

This systematic review and nonlinear meta-regression included 48 studies, with six RCTs and 3236 participants contributing to the modeled weight-regain trajectory.

Caveat

Most studies had moderate risk of bias, and weight patterns beyond 52 weeks were extrapolated rather than directly observed.
