Work Factors and Tiredness in Japanese Nurses Working Shifts: A Survey Study

Updated

Abstract

A threshold of 9 hours 50 minutes for daily working hours during day shifts is associated with a fatigue score of 3.0 or higher in two-shift rotation nurses.

  • The threshold for daily working hours during night shifts in a two-shift rotation is 17 hours 15 minutes.
  • For two-shift rotation, having 8.0 days of night shifts is linked to increased fatigue.
  • In three-shift rotation, a threshold of 9 hours 45 minutes for daily working hours is associated with high fatigue.
  • A threshold of 2.9 days for midnight shifts is related to increased fatigue in three-shift rotation nurses.
  • An interval of 2.0 times within 12 hours between day-shift and night-shift assignments is connected to higher fatigue levels.
