Abstract

PK2-/- mice exhibited reduced total sleep time compared to wild-type controls under both light-dark and constant darkness conditions.

  • Total sleep time in PK2-/- mice was decreased primarily during the light period, linked to a reduction in non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep.
  • Increased rapid eye movement (REM) sleep time was observed in PK2-/- mice during both light and dark periods.
  • After sleep deprivation, PK2-/- mice showed less compensatory rebound in NREM sleep, REM sleep, and EEG delta power.
  • PK2-/- mice had a diminished response to sleep disturbances, particularly during the light phase.
