Xanthoceras sorbifolia Oil May Help Alzheimer’s by Affecting the Gut-Brain Link and Lowering Inflammation Pathways

Updated

Abstract

XSBO treatment improved cognitive deficits and reduced neuroinflammation in an Alzheimer's disease rat model.

  • Cognitive function and neuronal integrity improved in AD rats treated with XSBO.
  • XSBO reduced markers of neuroinflammation and enhanced intestinal barrier integrity.
  • Alterations in gut microbiota were observed, with an increase in short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria.
  • Fecal microbiota transplantation and SCFA supplementation indicated that gut-derived metabolites may enhance cognitive improvement.
  • XSBO inhibited neuroinflammation by suppressing the activation of the TLR4/MyD88/MAPK signaling pathway.
