Alzheimer’s-related amyloid-beta changes the colon’s immune system in mice

Updated

Abstract

Essence

In a mouse amyloid-beta Alzheimer's model, disease was linked to altered gut immune trafficking, and an inulin diet partly improved frailty-related peripheral changes.

Evidence

This preclinical single-cell RNA-seq and flow-cytometry study in 5XFAD mice, with in silico comparison to human AD brain data, mapped colon immune shifts and tested an inulin prebiotic diet.

Caveat

The findings are mainly from a 5XFAD mouse model with supportive human brain transcriptomic analysis, so they do not establish human therapeutic benefit or causal gut-brain trafficking in patients.
