ASAP3 knockout extended lifespan and improved cognitive and motor functions in mice.

  • ASAP3 expression was found to be increased in aged mouse livers and hydrogen peroxide-induced liver cells.
  • Knockdown of ASAP3 in liver cells reduced signs of aging, improved cellular cleanup processes, and enhanced mitochondrial health.
  • Overexpression of ASAP3 negatively impacted cellular aging and mitochondrial function, leading to increased cellular stress.
  • ASAP3 knockout mice exhibited reduced symptoms of aging and maintained better cellular structure and function in the liver.
  • Metabolic analysis indicated significant alterations in pathways related to cell structure, cellular cleanup, and bile acid production in ASAP3 deficient mice.
