Bile Acid Injection Affects Blood Sugar in Type 2 Diabetes Rats Through the TGR5/GLP-1 Pathway, Not the FXR/FGF15 Pathway

Abstract

Bile acid injection increased fasting plasma insulin levels and decreased postprandial blood glucose in a rat model of Type 2 Diabetes.

  • Treatment with bile acids did not affect fasting blood glucose, fasting body mass, triglycerides, cholesterol, or total bile acid levels.
  • Bile acid administration activated the TGR5/GLP-1 signaling pathway.
  • The FXR/FGF15 signaling pathway was not influenced by bile acid treatment.
  • Bile acids may help improve glucose tolerance and achieve glucose homeostasis in T2DM rats.
