Abstract
BMAL1 knockdown in TM3 Leydig cells promoted apoptosis and reduced testosterone secretion.
- Inhibiting BMAL1 expression increased the levels of BAX mRNA and protein.
- Knockdown of BMAL1 decreased BCL-2 mRNA and protein expression.
- Testosterone secretion was significantly reduced following BMAL1 inhibition.
- Key genes involved in hormone synthesis, such as STAR, CYP11A1, and 3β-HSD, were less expressed after BMAL1 knockdown.
- Reduced expression of phosphorylated p85 and AKT was observed, suggesting a link to the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
