Abstract

CD73 knockout mice exhibited significantly aggravated liver inflammation and cell death in response to alcohol-induced injury.

  • Increased protein levels of CD73 and pyroptosis-related genes were observed in liver injury models.
  • CD73 knockout led to heightened inflammatory damage, lipid buildup, and cell death in hepatocytes.
  • Overexpression of CD73 reduced activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and cell death in liver cells.
  • The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway may mediate the effects of CD73.
  • Inhibition of the PI3K pathway counteracted the pathological processes associated with pyroptosis.
