Low-dose SR9009 reduces weight gain and insulin resistance caused by constant light by changing fat cell development

Abstract

Mice exposed to constant light and treated with SR9009 for eight weeks showed reduced weight gain and insulin resistance.

  • Chronic low-dose SR9009 treatment led to decreased white fat mass in mice subjected to constant light.
  • Treatment with SR9009 did not significantly alter overall energy homeostasis despite other positive effects.
  • SR9009 suppressed the expression of a key circadian gene (Bmal1) while restoring others (Rev-erbα and Rev-erbβ) in adipose tissues.
  • In vitro studies demonstrated that SR9009 inhibited the formation of fat cells (adipogenesis).
  • SR9009 restored certain gene expressions related to fat metabolism in brown adipose tissue but had no effect on inflammatory markers.
