Updated

Abstract

19% of respondents reported lifetime use of psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, or ketamine.

  • Psilocybin was the most commonly reported psychedelic used in one's lifetime and past year.
  • Lifetime use of psilocybin was highest among respondents from Canada at 16.3%, compared to 13.0% in the USA and 12.1% in New Zealand.
  • Australia had the lowest estimated lifetime use of psilocybin at 7.8%.
  • 10-20% of those who reported ever using a psychedelic consulted their medical provider about medical use.
  • Over one-third of respondents who used psychedelics in the past year experienced an adverse health effect.
  • Past month use of these substances was low across all surveyed countries.
