Abstract

Among 1375 diabetic participants, 86.0% received pharmacotherapy for hypertension.

  • Almost 78% of diabetic participants were diagnosed with hypertension.
  • Only 12.8% of those on anti-hypertensive medication achieved blood pressure levels below 130/85 mmHg.
  • Obese participants were significantly more likely to receive anti-hypertensive medication compared to non-obese participants.
  • Older diabetic patients with hypertension had poorer blood pressure control than younger patients.
  • Dyslipidemia was present in 50% of diabetic participants, with higher rates of lipid-lowering therapy among those with coronary heart disease or hypertension.
