Kaempferol treatment significantly improved anxiety-like behaviors and spatial working memory deficits in D-galactose-treated mice.

  • Kaempferol reduced neuronal loss in the hippocampus and increased the expression of genes related to synaptic plasticity.
  • The compound suppressed neuroinflammation by inhibiting microglial activation and the TLR4/Myd88 signaling pathway.
  • Kaempferol restored intestinal barrier integrity, evidenced by increased levels of colonic MUC2 and tight junction proteins.
  • It altered gut microbiota composition, enriching beneficial genera and correlating with higher fecal levels of propionate and butyrate.
  • A reduction in serum lipopolysaccharides (LPS) was observed, suggesting a potential decrease in systemic inflammation.
