Supported psilocybin sessions were linked to lasting positive religious, vocational, and psychological changes in psychedelic-naive clergy.

Evidence

Exploratory randomized waitlist-control study in 29 clergy compared immediate versus delayed psilocybin, with 24 participants followed after two sessions through 16 months.

Caveat

The study used a waitlist control, a homogeneous sample, self-report measures including some unvalidated outcomes, and 46% rated a session among their top five most psychologically challenging experiences.
