Effectiveness of a Brain-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy App for People with Insomnia

Updated

Abstract

Sleep hygiene improved significantly in the CBT-I group compared to the PE group (P=.02 at 1 month, P=.04 at 3 months, and P=.02 at 6 months).

  • The theory-based app used cognitive behavioral therapy techniques tailored for insomnia patients.
  • Improvements were also observed in sleep quality and severity of insomnia in the CBT-I group.
  • Mediation analyses indicated that perceived control over sleep hygiene and self-regulatory processes may explain the intervention's effectiveness.
  • Outcomes were assessed at multiple time points: baseline, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months postintervention.
