Effectiveness and safety of once-weekly IcoSema compared to once-daily IDegLira in people with type 2 diabetes

Abstract

At 52 weeks, IcoSema was associated with a 0.4% greater reduction in glycated hemoglobin (HbA) compared to IDegLira.

  • IcoSema resulted in a significant body weight reduction of -3.2 kg compared to IDegLira.
  • The daily insulin dose needed for IcoSema was significantly lower, by 9 units/day, compared to IDegLira.
  • IcoSema was associated with significantly lower rates of clinically significant or severe hypoglycaemia, with a rate ratio of 0.35.
  • There was no difference in the odds of discontinuation due to adverse events between IcoSema and IDegLira.
