Effects of Long-Term Lens-Induced Nearsightedness on Retinal Structure and Function in Mice

Updated

Abstract

After 6 weeks of myopia induction, the long-term myopia group exhibited significant reduction in refraction.

  • Myopia induction resulted in axial length elongation and thinning of choroidal thickness.
  • A marked reduction in inner retinal thickness was observed in the long-term group.
  • Electroretinography indicated attenuated amplitudes and delayed implicit times of oscillatory potentials.
  • These alterations suggest time-dependent structural and functional changes in the retina associated with prolonged myopia.
