Abstract

Adenoma miss rate was found to be 28% in patients returning for repeat colonoscopy within 3 years after fair bowel preparation.

  • Fair bowel preparation was reported in 31.9% of average-risk patients undergoing colonoscopy.
  • Endoscopists recommended a repeat colonoscopy within 5 years for 70.4% of patients.
  • The compliance rate for follow-up colonoscopy within 3 years was 55.9%.
  • Adenoma detection rates were 20.5% at the index colonoscopy and 28.2% at follow-up.
  • 13.6% of patients with an adenoma identified at follow-up had normal results on the initial colonoscopy.
