Abstract
Correlation coefficients between estimated and analyzed values ranged from 0.38 to 0.61.
- Mean estimated and analyzed nutrient intakes differed significantly for carbohydrates (203.0 g/d vs. 243.5 g/d), iron (9.9 mg/d vs. 22.8 mg/d), and vitamin A (356 µg vs. 246 µg retinol activity equivalents).
- At the individual level, all estimated and analyzed nutrient intakes differed significantly, with differences increasing with higher intakes.
- The adjusted Mali food composition database (a-TACAM) is deemed acceptable for measuring average intakes of macronutrients, calcium, and zinc in low-intake populations.
- However, a-TACAM is not suitable for assessing carbohydrate, vitamin A, and iron intakes, as well as nutrient densities.
