Gene Variations Linked to Type 2 Diabetes and Their Interactions with Other Genes and Environment in Uyghur People

Updated

Abstract

Significant differences in genotype distributions were found for four specific genetic variants associated with type 2 diabetes in a population of 879 Uyghur patients.

  • Genotype distributions of rs10811661, rs7195539, rs8050136, and rs9939609 showed significant differences between diabetic and non-diabetic individuals (all P<0.05).
  • After adjusting for covariates, rs7195539 remained significantly associated with type 2 diabetes, while rs10811661, rs8050136, and rs9939609 did not (P>0.05).
  • The interaction between the two genetic variants rs10811661 and rs7195539 exhibited a strong predictive accuracy for type 2 diabetes (P=0.014).
  • A three-locus model involving TG-HDL and family history of diabetes showed a high predictive accuracy for type 2 diabetes (P<0.001).
  • Potential interactions among specific genetic variants and environmental factors may play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes in this population.
