Co-administration of GIP and GLP-2 resulted in a superior reduction in bone resorption compared to each hormone individually.

  • GIP and GLP-2 are important hormones that regulate bone turnover after eating in humans.
  • The combination of GIP and GLP-2 led to an additive effect on bone metabolism.
  • Designed GIPR-GLP-2R co-agonists showed similar effectiveness to the individual hormones.
  • These co-agonists had improved properties for prolonged activity in the body.
  • The optimized co-agonists were not effective in rodent models for bone remodeling.
