GLP-1 Drugs Are Linked to Lower Breast Cancer Rates in Women

Updated

Abstract

Essence

GLP-1 agonist use was linked to lower breast cancer detection among women with elevated BMI undergoing breast imaging.

Evidence

This retrospective electronic-health-record cohort included 111,646 women aged 45 to 80 years with BMI >= 25 and imaging outcomes, with propensity-matched analysis of 30,528 observations and 600 cancer cases.

Caveat

The association comes from observational data at a major academic center and affiliated sites, so residual confounding and selection around GLP-1 prescribing and breast imaging may remain.
