Among 10,382 matched patients, the risk of cardiomyopathy at 18.5 years was 0.31% for GLP-1 receptor agonist initiators compared to 0.94% for metformin initiators.
- GLP-1 receptor agonist initiation was associated with a reduced risk of developing cardiomyopathy compared to metformin.
- The relative difference in cardiomyopathy risk was -0.64%, with a hazard ratio of 0.43, indicating a notable reduction in risk.
