  • Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors could lower inflammation by resetting kidney function and decreasing certain fat tissue around the heart.
  • Both drug classes are associated with reduced levels of systemic inflammatory markers such as IL-6 and hsCRP.
  • Improvements in blood vessel function have been observed with the use of these medications, potentially lowering cardiometabolic risk.
  • Major clinical trials have not prioritized inflammation as a key outcome, highlighting a gap in direct comparisons of these therapies.
