Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are associated with anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and neurovascular-protective effects in ocular diseases.
- Experimental studies show consistent anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects of GLP-1 RAs, especially in diabetic retinopathy.
- Clinical studies indicate potential benefits of GLP-1 RAs for ocular conditions, but findings are limited by study design variability and lack of specific ophthalmic endpoints.
