Effects of Different GLP-1 Receptor Agonists on Psoriasis

Updated

Abstract

Twenty-six studies indicate that semaglutide, liraglutide, exenatide, and tirzepatide are associated with improvements in psoriasis severity.

  • Improvements in psoriasis severity were often linked to reductions in body weight and inflammatory markers.
  • Semaglutide and liraglutide demonstrated the most consistent evidence of benefits regarding psoriasis.
  • Some agents were associated with paradoxical psoriasiform eruptions and exacerbations of psoriasis.
  • The evidence is primarily derived from case reports and small observational studies, limiting robustness.
  • Further research is needed to clarify potential differences among individual GLP-1 receptor agonists.
