Abstract
Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) increased 20.6% at 30-60 minutes after meal ingestion in participants receiving GLP-1 receptor agonists.
- Current fasting recommendations for vibration-controlled transient elastography may still be valid for most patients after a three-hour fast.
- LSM returns to baseline in most patients within 3-4 hours post-meal.
- In a small group, some participants required up to 4 hours for LSM to fully normalize after eating.
- The study involved 23 participants, including 12 with cirrhosis, who received glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists.
